Newborn Photo Session

USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE SESSION

WHERE IS THE STUDIO?

Photography sessions take place in my studio in Pyrford, West Byfleet, Surrey.

HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION TAKE?

My typical newborn photography session takes about 2-4 hours. Sessions with twins may run longer. I take time for soothing, feeding, precise posing. Please reserve 4 hours for your session in case your little one is sensitive to handling and needs more time to settle between poses. I only book one session a day, so you will never feel rushed or pressurised.

PREPARING FOR THE SHOOT

I would advise you to feed your baby before you leave for the shoot so that we may have the opportunity to begin straight away if your newborn has fallen asleep in the car.

I ask parents to try and interact with their babies for 1-2 hours prior to the shoot so the babies have been stimulated and fed and therefore more likely to be full, content and fall asleep.

If you wish to have photos taken with your baby, I advise neutral colours to be worn.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE SHOOT?

I love to photography newborns initially fast asleep and almost always with just a nappy on or in their bare skin.  A variety of props and accessories will be used and creative techniques in posing your baby to provide beautiful images which show your baby at their best.

During the shoot the temperature of the room will be hot, so that your baby will be warm and comfortable if bare skinned.

It may be necessary during the shoot to have to give top up feeds.

During the shoot you can sit back, relax and enjoy!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SHOOT?

I would advise you to have your baby ready in a sleep suit with no vest, so that it will be easier to get the baby undressed for the shoot and less disturbance for them.

If coming to the studio at my home in Pyrford, please bring with you :

Nappies

Baby milk, if you are bottle feeding

Muslins

Any favourite blankets

A change of clothes both for you and for baby

A dummy if you use one

The signed newborn portrait agreement

AFTER THE SHOOT

Following the session, you may return to the studio for a viewing session or can choose to view them on a password protect website. If you choose to view them online, I will be in contact within 10 days to provide you with details. These images will be available to view online for seven days.  In exceptional circumstances I will upload them again for an additional seven days. I am of course more than happy to offer help with choosing your images, as well as giving advice and suggestions when they are viewed this way.
